Character flower delivery in SWFL

If you've seen the videos online — a giant teddy bear, a superhero-style costume, a playful mascot knocking on a door with an enormous bouquet — that's character flower delivery. We do it across SWFL (Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Estero, Bonita Springs, Lehigh Acres) and Miami, and it's one of the most-asked-about services we offer. This is the straight talk on how it actually works.

What you're booking

A character delivery includes:

  1. An adult performer in a full character costume (no kids inside the suit, ever).
  2. A bouquet of your choice from our catalog or custom-built.
  3. An optional photo/video moment at the delivery location — ours or yours.
  4. A 10–15 minute window of attention for the recipient: the character knocks, hands over the flowers, dances/poses, sometimes sings (for birthdays).

It's a moment, not just a bouquet. Plan accordingly.

How to plan it without ruining the surprise

The two killers of a character surprise are logistics and recipient expectations. Here's how to handle both.

Logistics

  • Book at least 48 hours ahead in SWFL, 72 hours ahead in Miami. Costumes need to be sized to the performer who's available.
  • Tell us about parking. Apartment complexes, gated communities, and strict office buildings need a clear handoff plan. The character cannot wait outside in costume in a Miami August parking lot.
  • Avoid moving cars. Birthday surprises in restaurant parking lots are charming until somebody has to back out. Choose a curb, patio entrance, or front lawn.
  • Have a backup contact. If the recipient isn't where you said they'd be, our coordinator calls the person who placed the order (you), not the recipient. Stay near your phone.

Recipient expectations

Some recipients love character surprises. Some are mortified. Things to think about:

  • Are they private about birthdays at the office? Don't book to the office unless you've cleared it with HR or a buddy.
  • Are they camera-shy? Tell us in the notes; the character will hand off and step back instead of trying for a long photo moment.
  • Do they have small kids who'll be terrified by a 7' Sasquatch? Pick a different costume.

What's in our character roster

We rotate based on availability and season. Some perennial favorites:

  • Big Bear – the giant teddy. Best for birthdays, "I miss you" moments, and Mother's Day.
  • Princess-style gowns – tiaras and sparkle for kids' birthdays and "treat day" surprises.
  • Superhero-style costumes – bold capes and masks for kids' birthdays, hospital cheer-ups, dad surprises.
  • Mascot characters – we can match school colors and team costumes for spirit deliveries.
  • Custom requests – tell us what you want; we'll tell you honestly whether we can pull it off well.

What it costs (and what changes the price)

Character delivery starts around $300 + the bouquet, and goes up based on:

  • Distance. Miami → Brickell is one price; Miami → Homestead is another.
  • Time of day. Sunday at 11am is the busiest hour we deliver. Lock it early or pick a Saturday.
  • Costume rarity. The teddy bear is always available. A specific Marvel character we have to source and steam-clean costs more.
  • Performance length. Standard is 10–15 minutes at the door. A full restaurant or office walk-through costs more (and we may require a venue contact).

The pre-delivery checklist

48 hours before:

  • Confirm the recipient's exact location (home, restaurant, office).
  • Confirm the time window (we'll narrow to a 30-min slot).
  • Provide a backup phone number (not the recipient's).
  • Provide gate codes / parking instructions / building contact.
  • Decide whether the recipient gets a "you'll have a delivery today" heads up. Total surprise = better reactions but higher logistical risk (they're not home).

The day-of

We text you 30 minutes before arrival with a "we're on the way" update. Then we text you when we hand off. Most clients want a photo or short video — we capture it, you get the footage within the same day.

Edge cases we get asked about

  • Hospitals. We can do character delivery at most SWFL and Miami hospitals, but only with prior approval from the patient contact. Some hospitals (especially pediatric) have strict costume policies.
  • Funerals/sympathy. No. We won't send a costumed character to a sympathy event. Send a beautiful arrangement and a real card.
  • Schools. Yes, for staff/teacher appreciation, with admin approval. Not as a student-to-student surprise without admin buy-in.
  • Surprises that get filmed for social. Tell us. We'll position the performer for the camera, and we'll never share footage of the recipient without your consent.

When character delivery is the wrong move

It's not always the right answer:

  • The recipient is grieving.
  • The recipient is in a meeting / class / public-speaking moment.
  • The recipient just doesn't like surprises.
  • You can't be reached during the delivery window.

When in doubt, send a beautiful arrangement and a personal card. The character is the cherry on top — it's not the cake.
